The media are evolving.

Posted on Oct 1st, 2007 by Casey : Conscious Marketer Casey
Let go of the concepts you have known of media forms.

There is no holding to the containers we have used before.

There is a great effort in the courts and in the market to preserve the media vehicles of capital that have been sources of abundance for the past decades.

The efforts are futile.

The ubiquity of the information age is birthing new forms.  Freer and fuller, less restrictive than the previous forms.  Faster to market, leaner, targeted.  This is natural cultural and artistic evolution.  Do not resist, there is no resistance.

Net-nutrality, FCC, RIAA, you must learn the conditions of this new world and capitalize on the possibilities.   There is no preservation in a world of exponential acceleration.

The film industry, the last bastion of the Industrial Age, has developed a crack in its dam, only a matter of time now.

To the industrial media machines:  "we no longer need you."

Drop the walls and embrace your own peristroika.   Join the proletariat as we charge fleet footed towards the next horizon.

Boycott the Media Giants

I won't be spending any money with the following companies ever again if it can be avoided:

Capitol Records, along with Universal Music Group, Sony BMG, and Warner Music

I will instead, put resource to rewarding artist directly for their work.  Radiohead has been the first to move to the new model.  If I we're an employee of a record company, I would be seeking alternative employment.

The Record label model is in its twilight.  They are not needed.  Thier fate is inevitable.

Politics 2.0

Posted on Oct 9th, 2007 by Casey : Conscious Marketer Casey
Paul Goodman's Kucinich blog posts got me thinking about politics this morning.  Any way i look at it, it is a frustrating conundrum.

Syncronistically, I ran into this new politics site this morning.  It is capitalizing on web2 street cred while seeming to maintain a healthy unbiased balance.  I have not had the chance to look at it in depth, but this is indicative of a more mature internet becoming an active force in shaping our democratic republic.

Dreaded eMail...

Posted on Oct 10th, 2007 by Casey : Conscious Marketer Casey
Happened upon a killer article about the burdens of email over at n+1 thanks to foreignerd Paul Salmone.

"Over email, you can be in touch with so very many people—and make each one mad at you. And they are mad at you, your former friends, because no more efficient vehicle for the transmission of rashness and spleen has ever been devised than the email."

Falling Fruit.tv is Live!

Posted on Oct 30th, 2007 by Casey : Conscious Marketer Casey
Falling Fruit.tv

I am extremely happy to announce that FallingFruit.tv just went live!

For the last few months, I have been holding the marketing perspective in the development of Boulder start-up Falling Fruit.  Falling Fruit is a podcast network producing conscious audio shows distributed online.

We are debuting the network with two shows.  Buddhist Geeks has been online for several months and has developed a following among young Buddhist practicioners.  They have featured interviews with Alan Wallace, Genpo Roshi, and Sharon Salzberg

Conscious Business is brand new, and looks into the emerging world of business that strives for more than mere profit.  Zaadz is a prime example of the kind of business we want to hear about on the Conscious Business show, and we will be talking to many more entrepreneurs pushing the envelope to social responsibility.

Falling Fruit is not only interested in talking about conscious business and spirituality, we are living it.  At its heart, Falling Fruit is dedicated to sharing positive information with the world and empowering concerned individuals to affect positive change.

Come by and check us out, I have a feeling you might like it ;)
